Who is Alpheus?
Alpheus knew Parliament. Now you will too.
Our company is named after
Alpheus Todd, Canada's first Parliamentary Librarian. Todd played a
major role in solidifying a new Canadian Parliament into an enduring
legislative body. He was already a world-renown scholar on
parliamentary government when he was called to serve as our first
Parliamentary Librarian just after Confederation in the first
Parliament session in 1867. He counseled the MPs on how to create and
apply the historic first laws across our newly-formed nation until his
death in 1884.
Todd was also committed to professional
non-partisanship. He made his expertise on virtually all aspects of the
legislative process available to everyone, regardless of party
affiliation - "...Grit or Tory, government or opposition were alike to
him in the quest of information." (DCB)
The kind of
impartial expertise provided by Alpheus Todd serves as inspiration for
the work of the Alpheus Group to provide clients with the unbiased
information they need when they need it.
